Eshaness and Hillswick Ness are nearby as is Ronas Hill and Fethaland. A half hour drive will take you to the inter-island ferries that will take you to the north islands of Yell, Unst and Fetlar, or east to Skerries, Whalsay or Bressay making day trips to the islands very easy.
At Almara, up to date and helpful advice with good local knowledge on what to see and do and where is offered. Walks to match your abilities best can be recommended, because the family have walked most of them over the years. A weather forecast for each day will be available to ensure you are aware of, and take into consideration any possible weather related problems.
The family have always been conscious of the need to protect the environment, particularly when living so close to such outstanding natural habitats, so they do all they can to minimise their own impact and that of their guests, by encouraging them to bring back any litter for safe disposal at Almara, ensuring only footprints are left behind whilst they enjoy Northmavine with its 120 miles of beautiful coast line and Shetland's highest landmass that has made this the most scenic district in Shetland.
From this crofting hamlet of only five houses at Upper Urafirth, Marcia Williamson extends a warm Shetland welcome to share this tranquil location as her guest.
